The Culture House of Kutno (KDK), the largest institution of this type in the city, has been providing various attractions for the city residents for nearly thirty years. It deals with organization of artistic and entertaining events, galas on special occasion, exhibitions and artistic workshops. It also manages bands and circles, where children and youth can develop interests. The most known of them is "Od jutra" theatrical group, functioning since 1984, receiver of numerous and prestigious rewards during the All-Polish Festivals of Amateur Theaters.
Younger children can participate in classes of the children fairy theater "Puszek", which has been functioning since 1979. Moreover the following operate in the KDK: theatrical group without name
(since 1996), children's dance group "Raz, dwa, trzy". Various thematic painting exhibitions are presented by KDK "Domowa" Gallery. The Culture House has at its disposal movie-theater auditorium for 400 places, room for rhythmic-theater practice, conference room (70 places) and huge halls, used for fairs and exhibitions. The location of the institution is also attractive - in the center of R. Traugutt Park.
The S. Żeromski Public Library existing since 1931. It has a collection of 179,063 volumes: belles-letters, science and popular science literature, albums, publications in English and French. Microfilms, thanks to which one can learn about the history and region of Kutno, are "pearls" of the collection. The library also offers audio-video collections: so-called "books on tapes" cassettes and records for foreign languages learning, sizable choice of films on video-tapes and various repertoire of CDs.
Annually the reading room is visited by over 18,000 people, with more than 40,000 books and newspapers available, ca. 30,000 pieces of information are provided.
The Books Lovers Club functions resiliently at the library. On its initiative bibliophilic meetings are organized, author's evenings of contemporary poets and novelists, exhibitions of book-plates and graphic arts. The Municipal Public Library operates in Kutno in five branches.
The Youth Culture Center is a non-school education institution. It has classes for children and youth. They include three sections: artistic (music, vocal, theater-recitation, plastic arts sections), science and technics (English language, photo-film, model making - technical, radio station sections, sports and recreation (judo, chess, youth common room, corrective gymnastics sections). The institution is focused on arousing and developing interests among children and youngsters.
The Society of Kutno Land Lovers (TPZK) has been operating since 1972. Presently it associates 167 members. It's primary focused on carrying out various social-cultural activities and research works, used to popularize the region and history of Kutno among its residents, taking care of cultural-material legacy, with a special consideration of architectural monuments of Kutno and surrounding area, collection of materials concerning the land of Kutno, as well as initiating and promoting cultural events. This is supported by publishing activity, medal-making (a number of commemorative medals were engraved), scientific sessions, meetings and lectures are organized, as well as contests, historic-sightseeing trips, popularizing knowledge about the region. TPZK cooperates with restoring services and takes care about the image of the city. The most common form of the society's activity is publication of numerous region-related books. To this day 17 books have been published, presently "The regional booklets of Kutno" are being published (so far two volumes have been issued).
